Hunting & Fishing

Hunting and fishing are quite popular in Piloña, permits provided. Rivers and streams abound and some species can be found: common trout (Salmo trutta fario) and eel (Anguilla anguilla). Of course there are other more difficult to catch species, for professionals: salmon (Salmo salar), brown trout (Salmotrutta), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchusmykiss), flathead mullet (Mugil cephalus), common minnow (Phoxinus phoxinus)and sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus).

There are three fishing reserves open since 1970: Infiesto-Espinaredo (sin muerte), Villamayor and Soto de Dueñas.

On the hunting side, Piloña enjoys different mammals which can also be found inmountains and woods of all Asturias:wild boar (Sus scrofa), buck (Dama dama), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), venison (Cervidae). There are four main hunting preserves:

- Reserva del Sueve
- Coto de Tebrandi
- Coto de caza controlada del Concejo
- Coto de Piloña-Nava
